Organised by the Coochiemudlo Island Heritage Society, this free event celebrates the island's beauty and community spirit.
The idea is to ‘carry a torch’ out of love and respect for the island and its environment. Whilst fun is key, please be mindful and respectful of all, including the wildlife.
Bring a torch and wear appropriate footwear.
Start and finish points: Gindabara — we gather at sunset between 5.00–5.10 pm, heading out at 5.30 pm, returning to Gindabara for a social gathering around a roaring fire, hot soup, nibbles, and storytelling.
The walk will be approx. 2.8 km, taking a little over an hour with stops for poetry, music and stargazing. Participants may choose to walk only a portion of the trail. See the map below that indicates the route.
The walk will be led by José Garcia and Lani Roberts.
Special guests include John Pearn AO RFD and Denise Foley Burns.
If you are staying on to hear some great stories around the fire, especially what islanders got up to in the historic Pullen Hall back in the day, please consider bringing a pot of soup or nibbles to share. Walkers can leave soup and liquid refreshments in the kitchen.
We look forward to John Pearn sharing memories of the first stargazing group that met at Morwong Beach. Denise and Christine will chat about the role Pullen Hall played in the early days of Coochie and the Progress Association.
The Society extends its thanks and appreciation to Carolyn Brammer for sharing her property, Gindabara, on the evening!
RSVP: 16 July to help with catering by emailing coochieheritagesociety@gmail.com.
Hope to see you there!
