Deb Wood aka DAWood
Introducing the art and artists of Coochiemudlo
Riding the ebb and flow of creative ‘mojo’, artist DAWood keeps her eyes open to the small treasures and rich subject matter of the island.
Art practice and skills development have been an ongoing feature of DAWood’s life. Whilst living in Brisbane, Deb Wood’s free flowing approach to art-making gained confidence and inspiration through the example and advice of an enthusiastic and experimental artist neighbor.
Deb Wood calls her type of art ‘Moodism’, allowing mood and other intuitive triggers to unfold across her canvas in rich free flowing narratives of images, symbols, patterns and mixed media textures, often surprising herself with what emerges from out of the energy of the creative process.
DAWood is a member of the Coochiemudlo Artisans’ Collective and believes that art plays an important role in island life and well being, uniting community by building friendships, sharing creative ideas and showcasing island talents.
Curlew Artisan Gallery and Ross Street Gallery on Coochiemudlo Island open 10am – 2pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
