Coastcare’s 12th Annual General Meeting will be held at the Recreation Club, Laurie Burns Reserve, Elizabeth Street on Friday 20 June at 6pm.
Guest speaker: Paul Donatiu (Australian Network for Plant Conservation and the Queensland Threatened Species Program)
After formalities, we’ll welcome guest speaker Paul Donatiu who manages the Queensland Threatened Plant Network, a joint initiative of the Australian Network for Plant Conservation and the Queensland Threatened Species Program. We look forward to his presentation, “Current and emerging issues in plant conservation.” Paul has a study background in architecture, psychology and environmental management, and has practised community development and community education. He has worked for WWF, Greening Australia, Queensland National Parks Association, Griffith University and Healthy Land and Water. Apart from species recovery, Paul’s fields of interest include ecological restoration, fire ecology, landscape ecology, and the management and preservation of cultural landscapes. Paul has also completed a Churchill Fellowship that examined how five national agencies in Europe, USA and South Africa were dealing with climate impacts on their protected areas.
Members and newcomers are encouraged to consider how they could contribute to the operation of Coastcare. Please don’t be shy to chat about the possibilities with any member of the committee and put your hand-up for a role. Everyone is welcome!
